Defeated Obama handily where...in that parallel universe the Republicans live in? Obama displayed an impressive knowledge of every aspect of foreign policy, while McCain just dropped names ("I've met so-and-so, I've been to such-and-such") and blustered unpleasantly.
I thought that McCain seemed angry part of the time; he blinked incessantly. His lack of graciousness made him seem like the resentful loser rather than the confident winner. And he uttered the usual Republican banalities about cutting taxes and cutting spending, when what he (and they) always mean is: we'll cut taxes on the rich and cut spending for programs for everyone else. After all, this is a guy who owns 7 houses and 13 cars, who thinks that the income of rich people is at least $5 million a year.
He says he wants to cut spending, but he doesn't want to cut the $10 billion a month we're spending on Iraq, at a time our own finances are in the gutter. It's so crazy, like going into debt to rebuild your neighbor's house when your own house is in ruins. I say, let's spend taxpayer money in our own country to meet our own needs--so that our bridges don't fall down and our cities can recover from natural disasters.
