Obama's main mistake was to compliment McCain repeatedly, since McCain was not reciprocating.

McCain was focused on insulting Obama at every opportunity, even regularly "mis-characterizing" Obama in order to scrounge up an insult. It's easier to score points when you just make stuff up.

Future debates should have fact (lie) referees.
