I have nothing but contempt for parents who punish or abuse there children out of anger or rage. However, most children can greatly benefit from discipline with the proper use of a good spank using the following guidelines.

Sit them down next to you affirming they know what they did was wrong and why. Then tell them that you love them but what they did earned them a spanking. Calmly spank them on the buttocks firmly enough to make it sting but not enough to make them gasp for air. Again, tell them you love them and that you hope you never have to do that again.

Children should know and learn there are serious consequences to making bad decisions. They also need to respect authority. I believe this method effectively and lovingly does both. I look back on the times I received spankings as a child and even though I didn’t like the process then, I am very grateful now for the effect it had on my life.
