As a mother of 4, and out of that 4 I have two children that are special needs children. I have learned that when I spank them for behavioral issues it doesn't really do what I need it to do every time. But I have taken parenting classes. That by no means, means that I know everything nor does it mean that I am some expert. I very rarely have to spank my children, but I have, and I will most likely do it again. I do believe that statistically that when the state officials get involved they go after the parents that are not abusing their children, rather they go after the ones that are not! I do know this to be fact, and I find it sad. I have a friend that is trying to alert authorities about some children that are indeed being abused in one form or another, but the state refuses to get involved, WHY? Where I live the law states I have the right to discipline my child. No I do not have the right to beat or harm my child... that is not what the law is saying. And I think most people take that out of context. I do think that is what the scientists are trying to convey. I do know when I should not touch my children... and I don't. I do believe it is a personal right to spank or not. When the government can step in and tell me how to raise or discipline my children that is when I think our country has gone to hell! I believe it is a parental obligation to get educated and to use self control when dealing with their children... and that is what is comes down to. Just like anything else, science is science and when the scientists can come up with a cure for HIV, CANCER, and SIDS then and only then will I be more inclinded to listen to scientist.
Have a great day!
