I like the drinking comment...made me giggle.

But, I've found that sometimes parenting personality and child personality don't quite match up. Not that the parent is doing something "wrong" but that the child needs something different. I use different discipline techniques with all three of my children, because they are all different. If what you're doing isn't working, consider that it's not that you're doing something wrong, but you just need to try something else.

I have a friend who is gentle and sweet and kind and has NO idea what to do with her son who throws himself on the floor in tantrums. She panics and it completely distresses her. She needs to learn a little tough love. Like...put him in his crib, and when he stops, take him out. Then he learns that every time he throws a tantrum like that...he gets put in his bed.
