Complaining about taking nasty rumors at face values falls a little flat for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that your "debunking" is absurd.

Billing an insurance company is billing the victim; it is shifting the cost of the police department doing its job as it would with any other crime to the victim, instead of expecting the department to pay for the investigation. SHE paid for her insurance; SHE almost certainly will have a deductible or co-insurance arrangement that will leave her partially or fully responsible for the bill. Passing the bill through the insurance company simply doesn't change the basic fact that Palin's administration decided that the cost of investigating rapes shouldn't be borne by the police department.

Palin approved the budget that took that line item out. An executive takes responsibility for her organization and its actions, or at least one who is ready to lead does. What a disgusting story and what disgusting set of excuses.
