Adra, sweetie.

Actually, I can skate on it for most of every winter. and I am as sure as there are five fingers on each of my hands that Obama is going to lose this election. I would never had that certainty if I was still living in the comfortable denial of city life.

Do you really manage to talk to people who are any different from you? It's hard to believe given the snide tenor of your posts. And I do it every single day, have learned to be more curious than presumptuous about them, and have spent a lot of time beginning to realize that everything I knew in the city mindset was wrong.

You don't want to believe that, obviously. But Karl Rove won two elections banking on it. Including your not understanding that then . Or bothering to now.

Nothing has changed with this election. Rove's base is still right where it has been . Add to that everyone who has no credibility in or reassurance from any of the ideas pertaining to Obama and ---that's the way you lose elections

I am not assuming my experience applies to all voters. Just the demographics I presumed about, and now live among, during the past two elections.

You need to find it this out for the third time? You can bet that you will the hard way.

Unlike you, I don't assume that what I'd like makes any difference in a majority election. And I have had plenty of time now to not discount who the majority is. Even if you all do.

You can circle jerk and compliment each other on your scrabble vocabulary. You are up against the inarticulate and stubbornly single-minded. Just the anti-abortion crowd must outnumber every blogger by god knows how many to one.

I 've been watching Bill Clinton the past few days. And aside from how much I miss that fine mind in action, I can only begin to appreciate how being a populist wasn't just inborn in him.. He honed it with a Darwinian level of genius. and no matter what you want to say about harmlessly robotic Obama, he has no populist skills whatsoever.

Unless you are drinking his Kool-aid , no one would want to spend any time around such smug narcissism unless they had to. One thing that really impresses me is how few people who have been around Obama in his past have anything good to say about him unless they are getting something quid quo pro right now. it would be ominous if he weren't going to be as gone as Kerry after November

You don't need a crystal ball for that. You simply need to observe that people like you simply cannot answer the question where Obama's supposed majority is going to spring from.

He is at most a couple of points ahead of a doddering taxidermied relic of the status quo . if he were winning his lead would be way more than that. and McCain's voters are not the kind of people who don't hang up on pollsters.

But, hey, Adra. Just remember it's reciprocal and I am going to have such a great time with that fact. Obama has ticked off or turned off enough people for too many reasons that these alone are enough to put McCain over the top.

I f I could bring myself to vote Republican,I'd be inclined to just to have a hand in rejecting Obama, but not even that could induce me to do so. It's not going to stop the millions who will, though.

I think misplaced faith is so sad really. I just began to understand it's place on the Right when Obama made it so virulent on the Left. The thing you're ignoring about McCain is that except for the religious right, all the zealots are in Obama's corner. And no way can a partisan candidate win a majority election.

You should have thought about that before you foisted him onto the ballot. You may have put him there, but that doesn' t mean anyone has to vote for him. and most won't.
