"the Wall Street swells whose interests they fight for"?
by Mactosh

Noah understands libertarianism about as well as he gets anything else. Does he ever notice the reciprocal arrangements going on between South Manhattan and the District? Lew Rockwell's website usually has at least ten articles on the subject each week. Government policies are intricately involved in high finance and the NYSE is buoyed up constantly by bailouts, handouts, subsidies and dubious deals with government procurers. Free market advocates know that large publicly traded companies seldom operate without considerable arm twisting, sweet-hearting, black mailing and slush funding in good ole Washington D.C.

Noah's superficial grasp of everything is forever on display at Slate. The idea that he is doing the 'splaining' is riotous. He hasn't got the foggiest notion of the details of libertarian or free market thinking. Just like he doesn't understand the EU, what was wrong with Clinton, the defeciencies of public education or anything he has ever written about really.
