Bagasse/Bamboo Products
by ClarkeBitter

I am the President of P&C Compostech Inc (www.compostech.com). My company is the largest importer and distributor in Canada of compostable cups made from recycled bamboo and bagasse. Bagasse is sugarcane pulp left over from the sugar making process. Our manufacturer, (currently in China, with plans to relocate the foctories to Canada once the market permits), presse bagasse and post-food production bamboo into sheets of cardboard like material. We then stamp this into over 150 shapes including cups, plates, take-out containers and grocery boards to name a few. These products compost in 31 days, and biodgrade in 90.

These products offer the conveience of polystyrene, without the extra cost of ceramic mugs. I firmly believe that these products are the greenest products on the market today because we all still want the convienience of disposable products. More people will use bio-based products rather than washables.

If you are a decision maker for any company which currently uses petro or aluminum based products, be aware that the majority of Canadians now EXPECT green products. They will reward you by returning to your restaraunt or store, and, THEY WILL TELL THIER FRIENDS ABOUT YOUR GREEN WAYS. This has been shown in surveys and studies recently done by several marketing firms as well as political style polls.

Without new ways of thinking, we don't have much of a future as a race.

Clarke Bitter,

President and CEO,

P&C Compostech Inc.
