The real problem in this country is that we have a severe shortage of doctors. Think about it- if there were twice as many doctors on call, you would spend half as much time in the waiting room. There would be more walk-in clinics, and you would get a same-week appointment with your primary care physician much more often.
It's 2008. Why don't we have enough doctors to provide quick and effective healthcare to all Americans?
I think it has something to do with med school admission practices. There are a ton of college students right now who want to become doctors but very few of them will be accepted into med school. Why are the med schools turning down so many applicants? Most of these people are qualified and would make great doctors if they were given the opportunity.
I think the med schools need to realize that there is a national healthcare crisis. People are bleeding to death every day because the population has exploded and there aren't enough doctors to go around. When are the med schools going to respond to this crisis?
Why isn't the government building more med schools to respond to this crisis?
