Indeed, the other words (effete, etc.) are usually substitutes for "Jewish".

When the whiner says "the liberal press" just put the word "Jewish" in place of "liberal" and you get the real intent.

(Or Zionist. Zionist is a nice substitute for Jewish. It means you hate Israel but like Jews. Imagine.)
