Nope Kurl, from a purely political point of view, McCain could have picked someone like Kay Baily Hutchison, or Elizabeth Dole, and that would have given his maverick label some credibility. Instead he picks some bimbo beauty queen with 20 months experience in a governorship over a state that has less population than my home town of Portland Oregon. Because he's picked a featherweight, I worry that anyone will take women as poltical candidates seriously again. By picking Palin, woman's advancement has now come to a complete standstill, because he has just demonstrated that women don't have to be taken seriously.
