So the Obama camp finally moved past the Clintons, huh? Their at last reconciled and the Democrats are united? But wait, are they really? Did Hillary and Bill Clinton mean what they said about endorsing Obama? Were there hearts completely in it? Let's bring in a cardiologist to show a diagram of the heart and discuss how much, what percentage of their hearts are for Obama. Let's also bring in our commentators who do not know the Clintons, do not know the Obamas, but have opinions about how much the Clintons love/hate the Obamas. Then we have a body language expert to minutely analyze the speeches and tell whether the Clintons' body movements said nobama while their mouths said, yes he can. Oh, and an interview with this random blond woman who is a Democrat for McCain and thinks Obama is a Muslim. Coming right up!
The press created this conflict. The press talked about the "resentment" of Hillary Clinton while the first African-American in American history recieved the nonimination. The press wondered what Bill Clinton would say, how much would he rant and rave in anger over Hillary's loss-like he was un uncontrolled, petulant child-when giving his speech. Never mind that he is the smartest politician and the best speaker in the country. Never mind that he was invited to speak at the Democratic National Convention! What did the press think he was going to say? "I like McCain?" "I'm so mad, I will vote for the other guy?" Hey, Bill Clinton is a closet PUMA..
Look, I'm sure that there are Clinton supporters who were hurt by her losing. But to say that they will leave the party their candidate represents and vote for an anti-women's rights candidate who is for overthrowing Roe v. Wade, is against equal pay, is for tax cuts for the wealthy and is so very far away from Hillary Clinton's beliefs--to say that they, supposed Democrats will vote for such a candidate is to perpetuate the idea that Americans are really stupid. That they don't care about the country but about their own hurt feelings; that they are egotists. But the press will always find one of them and more often than not, that person will be on the Republican payroll. The Rove strategy is to use the press to foment division and spread crazy ass lies about Obama. It works because the press loves conflict more than they love speaking truth to power. They love turmoil more than they love asking tough questions. They want talking heads over actually investigatiing something. So news becomes which guy is louder in his opinions. The Clinton Obama "rift" is a press invention, conjured up for maximum play.
Oh, and when I say the press I primarily mean the cable news networks who really are employment agencies for people with no actual skills except the ability to string a sentence together. But magazines and newspapers who are losing money play this game too.
