You're right, the Rove types would have tried it. It did work against Gore and Kerry. But it never worked against Bill or Hillary. Not in two runs for the White House. Not in two runs for the Senate in New York, where she was correctly cast as a carpetbagger and where Guiliana was supposed to go against her the first time before he pussied out and let little Rickie Lazio take the fall. The results: Hillary's previously high negatives in NY are history. She's in the 60%+ approval spot, a very sweet spot. He was 68% when he left office.

Point being the Clintons are innoculated against that poison. Barry beat her fair and square, no argument, but the Rove types never did and never would have this time either.
