Here's the thing: It's not that the Clintons cause divisiveness and polarization. It's that, from the start of Bill Clinton's presidency, an extremely well financed Republican machine (the vast right-wing conspiracy!) went on the attack because of what they represented--he had the gall to be a progressive from the South not tied into the east coast power structure, and she had the nerve to be an intelligent, focused, and powerful woman. That will be polarizing until the post-patriarchy. She has faults, like all politicians, but the attacks on her started very early following their entry on the national scene and seemed to come from a very scary, dark, large, misogynist facet of our nation.
