Puzzling...

The I don't get this so I hate it, I'll never use it, and I hate the people who do get it attitude is silly and juvenile. I felt that way in math class as a teenager too. I'm never going to use this stuff, I don't get it, I hate it, and I hate the smart kids too. The thing is, there came a point when my adolescent brain developed and math sort of "clicked" and sparked an enjoyment for puzzles. Sudoku isn't mindless, it's a game of conditional logic, a handy thought skill to have, particularly in the LSAT ordering puzzles. Moreover, many studies have shown that people who regularly do word or logic puzzles are less likely to suffer the effects of Alzheimer's disease. The theory goes that exercising the brain with word recall and logic puzzles keeps neural pathways running efficiently, and that this type of mental exercise may even be able to create new pathways around existing plaque tangles in the brain in those who have already been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. So you can hardly call puzzles a mindless waste of time. And to say that people who "waste their time" doing puzzles don't read, well that's just ridiculous and arrogant.
Reading this mindless article was a waste of time. I could have been playing Sudoku.
