Which is, of course, the exact problem I have with the evangelical right - (I'm far more in line with your views than I may have let on in my previous post). I do think that if you distill "Christian" love down to its major points - essentially, modeling the godly person who may not necessicarily love God - then you'd find someone who is very much in line with most people, regardless of whether they're believers or not, though this is something overlooked by the evangelical churches in most cases.
