Talk about getting things backwards! This author makes such knee-jerk assumptions about the message Wall-E makes about obesity. "Ooh! Fat people are causing all the world's problems! Fat people are stupid and lazy!! Fat people sit on their arses and drink liquid diets and jabber mindlessly all day long!!!"
How about just turning your arrows around, and maybe- just maybe! you'll realize that obesity is simply one of many effects of our lifestyles. Hey, you sit and eat all day, you're likely to put on a few pounds!
Look, there are those who are overweight for one physiological reason or another, but they are a minority. Most people who will scream about their weight being genetic or glandular are only deluding themselves, and the real cause is much more likely to do with their caloric intake relative to their activity level.
It's simple A -> B =/= B -> A thing: Being obese doesn't guarantee that you're stupid and lazy and eat too much, but being stupid and lazy and eating too much is a near-guaranteed way of becoming obese.
