Why??????
by kati

We are getting sidetracked in most of the threads here. The question is simply: why is the Bush administration attempting to redefine birth control as abortion? Why is it trying to do this discretely by claiming it to be a new rule so that it wont have to ask Congress to pass a law and thus have public discussions? And how is this authoritarian sneaking around protecting anyone's freedom?

Obviously preventing pregnancy is not the same as terminating it. Why are some people in these posts confusing the two? The pill has been around so long, so why all of a sudden people don't know that it works by preventing ovulation? Why are some posters referring to a woman's ovae (eggs) as fetuses? Surely everyone must know that it takes a sperm and an ovum to start a fetus, this in addition to the required favorable circumstances for implantation. Without implantation there's no fetus, nothing is growing, nothing is alive. The fact that the Administration is attempting to claim that being fitted for an IUD is like an abortion boggles the mind (and the heart!).

And worse, why has the administration health website claimed that condoms don't work and dont protect against STDs? And why are children taught this, and why do people believe it against all evidence? Do you folks really think that people in Bush's milieu, that of the upper class, are foregoing the use of birth control even as they are attempting to prevent the rest of us gullible folks from exercising our fundamental freedom and right to privacy?

Have we lost all connection to reality? Are we living a nightmare swamp of lies where up is down and down is up and a square is a circle and a circle is a square?
