I have to assume that with obvious references in a good poem that it was intended as a tribute. While this one is not smarmy ala Bye, Bye American Pie and, as I've repeated here a few times, if I hadn't read the posts I wouldn't have known the connections, I just bristle now that I know. It's my own little cross to bear since, like Calder, "I've needed to live as I have".
