Everyone's a Critic, but...
by Hellzapoppin

so many of these types of exercises suffer from identity crisis. Are they meant to be affordable? Portable? Easy to construct? Temporary? Perhaps better-put--Who's the market? Witold R raises some good questions, himself.

A few of these models, such as the last one in the slideshow, would be wonderful additions to the urban landscape. Others, like some of the student-designed models, are art-damaged, heinously abstract and nearly pointless designs already obviated--as Witold R points out--by much simpler and even more affordable options. These wiggy models call to mind the ghastly haute fashions trotted out on runways but never meant for actual wear. And that is completely contrary to purposes, here. I can't believe there weren't better options out there for display.

Still, I'm happy to see this growing trend toward prefab and modular design.
