What I stressed in my posts was that the US should have controlled Georgia with an iron fist to make sure no stupid moves were made against Russia. Especially so since, in your words and which I fully endorse, "Russia was re-expansionist, aggressive, militarized and autocratic".

the US can win, and was in a great position in Georgia, but unfortunately the dick-heads in our government did not fully understand the stakes.
