I think the writer is saying that what happens with a womans body can only be decided by the woman. I applaud the greater scope of the platform. I wish we could all agree that it would be best to make abortion obsolete but that would require everyone to concede two things: First, there is more to abortion than just birth, there is a whole long life as well and we, as a country, do a poor job of 'treating' child abuse and malnourishment, and providing decent education, shelter, and opportunity and Second, we do a poor job of sex education (parents may be the worst source) and of making birth control available especially to the poorest. Also a third thing, We are all programmed to seek sex, which is why our species has survived and flourished, but can a majority of people accept these three facts?
