Do you know what would have happened if Georgia was in NATO? Russia still would have attacked. And the result? NATO's credibility is forever tarnished.

Why? Because the US is already stretched to it's limits, is close to bankruptcy, and has no real ability to attack yet another country, this time one with far more firepower than a dinky dictatorship like Iraq.

And we all know that NATO is nothing but a front for the US military. None of the other members of NATO would do a damn thing without the US.

At least now we can pretend NATO still means something. If Georgia had joined, the NATO alliance itself would have been destroyed in the process.
