Jascob,
Simple question:
When the newborn democracies at the foot of Russia reached out the West and asked for protection from their aggressive former autocratic Russian masters, and asked for inclusion in NATO and the EU, should the West have turned their back on them so as not to piss off Russia, or should it have done what it did, which is all that it could do?
Gee, foreign policy is easy when you don't have any principles to keep, isn't it? Sort of like Switzerland.
EarlyBird, Everything to Bushies, such as yourself, seems simple I'm sure. In fact, I find your question quite muddled because you seem to assume that we have done everthing we can to help these newborn democracies, including putting ourselves in the best position to help them, or at least not putting ourselves in a position where we can only stand by and helplessly watch as they are crushed after seemingly encouraging them to seek independence.
