Horus:
I'm asking you where the boundaries of speech are, since you seem to think they have none. You basically SAID so in your post. So get off the high horse and quit pretending that serious questions are "hyperbole."
I don't believe there should be a limit on free speech. I think that it is reasonable to put a limit where the speech is directly intended to cause injury or bodily harm as in the case of shouting "FIRE" in a crowded movie house but it is difficult for me to even come up with another example where it should be limited.
Horus:
They are HARASSING funeral goers. Whether they're pseudo-Baptist right-wing Christian nutballs or the equivalent from the far Left makes no difference. They have no right to do what they're doing, none at all - not in a decent society.
They have every right to do so in a FREE society. Wether or not it is a DECENT society is immaterial. I can speak my mind whenever and wherever I want. That's the really great thing about freedom of speech. But, at the same time it really sucks too because everyone else has the same freedom. You seem to be really hung up on telling other people what to do. Especially if they aren't doing something that you like.
Horus:
It's got nothing to do with whether I "like" the Church, it has everything to do with whether these poor people at the funeral can carry out their services without being pissed on by lunatics of whatever political or religious bent.
They aren't being pissed on. That would, technically , be assault not to mention public urination and public indecency. All of these are crimes and should be prosecute to the 100% limit of the law. Standing on public land, shouting annoying and obnoxious shit is not illegal, it is simply annoying.
Horus:
Arresting people for harassment? You bet your ass I don't mind that. And in any case, it's Canada's call, so your whiny Constitutionally-based objections mean nothing.
Funny, I seem to hear the same thing about the constitution from the Right Wing wacko fringe too. You are right, Canada can decide to let in whomever they choose and keep out the same if they like.
Horus:
If you're not going to respect my POV or deal with my very real objections, I see no reason to answer your question.
Of course you don't. The problem is I already know your answer: You would let no-one decide what you can and cannot say. Your freedom of speech is abolutely sacrosanct. The freedom of others, however, Is not.
BTW, I have respected your POV. But I will not give up my rights or the rights of others simply because you don't like what I do with them. Also, You don't seem to have any real objection other than that you don't like what they are saying. Freedom is messy, dude. It is easy to be for liberty and freedom and all that when everyone is on the same team as you. But it is a lot messier when people with different opinions start using the same freedom.
