"what nonsense - war on terror means what exactly? what's the difference between that and a war on the bogeyman scaring children at night?"
I'll ignore the asinine context you frame this question in, and answer it straight forward. The War on Terror, fought by the United States and her allies are various forms of engagements and campaign to counter terrorist threats, prevent terrorist acts, and curb the influence of terrorist organizations. Unlike your fictitious boogieman, terrorist organizations employ threats, fear, and real acts of violence to spread their ideals, including, but not limited to embassy bombings, the deliberate mass killing of innocent noncombatants and civilians, and organized attacks against those who wish to stop their actions. None of this is "vague": The acts of violence NGO's and terror groups have executed, and the engagements used to stop them are specific, directed, and deliberate.

Be consistent when you talk about the means in which to deal with this threat. If our involvement in Iraq is no longer needed, or warranted, and we need to evacuate troop presence, then do not denigrate the United States for giving any type of support to the Pakistani government to fight their own engagements against the same enemy, especially when you talk about any type of tax burden that this would create.
"Your children?" Please. If they wanted to, Congress could most certainly stop funding this campaign, and make bipartisan efforts and redirect forces as they see fit. It was a bipartisan effort to implement the war in both Afghanistan and Iraq- and will be the same which ends or redirects those conflicts. This could be even more so for the next administration, and certainly an administration 10 years from now.
