Re: Natural vs. Unnatural, proof of failure to implant
by JP4

Your use of statistics and supposed facts is very flawed. You claim that women's use of "chemicals" to prevent pregnancies results in higher rates of ectopic pregnancies. This is completely incorrect. Those who use oral contraceptives have a MUCH lower rate of ectopic pregnancies than those who use nothing. This is because their main mode of action is to prevent ovulation. The use of IUDs has a higher rate of ectopic pregnancy than oral contraceptives but still lower than a woman using nothing, indicating that IUDs (especially hormonal "chemical" types) still prevent fertilization to some degree, but as a back-up, they also prevent implantation.

To say that preventing implantation is a form of abortion or induced miscarriage is also ridiculous. Generally, the term "miscarriage" is used to describe the loss of an embryo after implantation. Anything else would almost suggest that women "miscarriage" every month during their periods. Before implantation, a blastocyst is an extremely fragile ball of cells that cannot sustain itself without nourishment. Very often, the body aborts these prior to implantation due to either a genetic abnormality or a developmental regulatory problem. When this happens, the woman rarely notices anything other than the onset of a "normal" period.

Your description of breast cancer rates is not only extremely confusing but also misleading. Women who use hormonal contraception have an increased risk of breat cancer during their use and for a few years afterwards due to the increased level of hormones, not their supposed abortive effects. Women who never conceive, on the other hand, have an increased risk of breast cancer that only increases throughout their lifetimes. This is due to the fact that pregnancy resets the hormones to a lower level that subsequently lowers cancer risk. This is the reason why nuns have a much higher incidence of breast cancer than women in the general population.

The fact that so-called pharmacists are allowed to withhold LEGAL and PRESCRIBED medications from a woman for whatever reason is just another way for the misogynistic conservatives to subvert women's rights. This is especially sad since pharmacists are basically glorified and overpaid vending machines.
