The reason why it draws attention to McCain is because it is common knowledge and he has admitted to cheating on his first wife multiple times. If Republicans are going to make a big deal about Edwards it lends itself to comparison to McCain. You can't even try to add extra horror to Edwards behavior because of his wife's illness because McCains first wife was in a horrific accident while he was a POW. She had to have multiple surgeries and the bikini model he married was not who he came home too. The accident left her 4 inches shorter, heavier and she had to walk with a cane.
