REGARDING: GABFEST ON POTUS 08 (SLATE.COM)
I heard your conversation regarding David Brooks vacuous column on Senator Obama. You indicated agreement that Obama seems not to "take and action," to be "too thoughtful," to not have substance. Really?
This young, bi-racial man who grew up without a father in the home, raised by a single mother and his grandparents sat around thinking and didn't:
* Graduate from Columbia and Harvard with honors (Law Review? Not much, huh? and he paid off his own college expenses--didn't let us pay his way)
* Work in the streets and neighborhoods of South Chicago to help disenfranchised people find jobs and hope (really, not enough)
* Work as a civil rights attorney (what, helping people again...that's the height of doing nothing!)
* Teach Constitutional Law (God forbid we have a President who loves and understands our Constitution-what's left of it! Why would you think THAT's and accomplishment?)
* Spend 8 years in the State Senate (What, just sitting around?...that's how he got re-elected and then elected to US Senate...a stepping stone? So what? You disparage him for wanting to achieve more, to advance, to move forward?)
* Wrote 2 books, not 1, TWO, and they are successful books...and he wrote them HIMSELF...not like McCain who can't talk without notes, and certainly doesn't write his own books or speeches (talk about a do-nothing--McCain has never earned a single dollar off the public payroll except for his short lived job with his father-in-law)
How awful that we might just want to elect an even tempered, thoughtful, intelligent, successful person to our highest office...I mean really. What was he thinking?
No, we'd rather elect a legacy baby, drunken, adulterous, hot-headed, lying, war-monger...I could say more, but why...anyone who could read and swallow and repeat Brooks' drivel without making it a thoughtful conversation (oh, right...you think thoughtful is a negative) won't get it.
