You wouldn't sell wine made in Mississippi to French people, and you wouldn't sell Whole Foods and Trader Joe's to poor Los Angelans - the common thread there is that both don't want it! If you know something that healthy-eating food shops don't know, then by all means set up shop in the poor stretches of L.A. and make tons of money being the only healthy food option in the area.

But I'm guessing business owners know how to run their businesses, and don't chose to put their healthy-food stores in areas that won't shop there because they won't stay in business there.

And until the fruits and legumes section of convenience stores have money actually spent there, I'm guessing the invisible hand will keep McDonalds as the only viable option. You don't get to pick where other people spend their money (big surprise coming) -- they do.
