What, in the history of writing about political sex scandals of a non-criminal nature has informed or enlightened our opinions such that we need to know about this nownownow? What justifies wailing and lamenting the tragedy of jounalistic restraint?

Misplaced outrage?

The public and the press both love a scandal. Yes, it's astonishing and curious that this isn't everywhere. Do we care? Should we care?

The argument may be that we get to make that decision for ourselves. But to what end? It's a "Long Tail" story, like so many others. Those who care can find out, and the rest of us don't have to be bombarded or otherwise forced to listen to something that, in the end, doesn't matter.
