I just disagree with your premises.
This really isn't a
fluff piece because it's just explaining these issues. I don't feel
like it comes down heavily in favor or disfavor with Obama's judicial
stances. So I wouldn't characterize it as blowing smoke. It's just
trying to look into his comments at the time.
I also think that your statement, "Americans do not vote for
smart and nuanced. They vote their guts." Is a bit simplistic. I think
there are many people out there who want to know more about the
candidates rather than going with their gut or sites like Slate
wouldn't exist.
And why are you so offended that some people may
be interested in this? I personally would like to know more about
Obama's past experience and how he would shape the Supreme Court. Just
as I have looked into McCain's comments on who he would appoint.
I mean, just because you don't care about this, doesn't mean other
people don't either or that it's not important. And I'm not trying to give you rules like Malosi (I don't want to be cussed at) but if you're not interested in the topic of an article...skip it. It's what I do.
