Again, what is Slate's agenda?

Earlier this month we were treated to a discussion about the most effective ways of attacking Barack Obama. Now we are treated to a discussion about how John McCain can somehow convince people that he isn't tied at the wrists and ankles to the worst president in modern history, a president he has supported 95% of the time. What, exactly, is going on here? Why is Slate indulging in such blatant advocacy politics? Why does John Dickerson believe it is place to help the McCain campaign?
