Kids in the office
by James of Indiana

Prudence reminds me of some women that I have met from time to time that just love kids and babies. It doesn’t matter when or where. Who in their right mind could complain about that? Well, I for one. I like kids but they have their place. Excepting an emergency, the office is no place for infants and small kids. As can been seen by the fact that one worker is bothered, they are a disturbance and a distraction in the office. My guess is that they impact in sight, sound and odor. Sick kids expose other workers to health risks. For a similar reason sick kids are not generally allowed in day care. Having, these young kids at work has a negative impact on productivity employee moral and office professionalism.

There is another significant issue. These kids at work are a safety and insurance risk. Imagine what happens to the company, should one of these kids get hurt or cause someone in the office to get hurt.

The boss has to know! The company performance and his job may be on the line. Each one of the employees that enables this mother and each one that does not inform the boss is in essence colluding with this woman to defraud the company.

Furthermore, I’ll bet this woman’s husband would never consider taking these same kids to work. Assuming he is not in Iraq, he has also probably not taken off a day to take care of his sick kids.

I wonder how Prudence would feel about an office mate bringing their dog, cat or their singing bird to work. How would she feel if someone brought their ailing or feeble parent to work, then asked co-workers to do shift duty.
