Re: John Edwards

The disdain for the National Enquirer is not altogether undeserved by the pub in question. But as a former journalist, I have to say I always found the disgust by elites of the tabs pretty funny, as many of the tabloids (including the Nat Enq) often work harder to follow stories (admittedly sleazy and supposedly beneathy interest for elites, icky gossipy stuff) than many MSM journos. Because they have been sued so much they actually have lawyers on staff who vet stuff....and believe it or not, they have broken some stories. So don't condemn this story completely out of hand just because it comes from the NE. Why isn't JE out there completely refuting this, or threatening to sue, or some such, if there is no validity to this?? Also, this was first discussed on the Huffpost several months ago...and was condemned at the time by many posters who thought it was appalling. Now it has more validity.

The MSM, severely stretched by smaller staffs and etc., and not sure they should even be following this story (he's no longer running for prez, he has the sick wife, it's icky and slimey, etc.) are not devoting ANY staff to this story as far as we can tell. But that doesn't mean the NE isn't correct.

I happen to think that since the guy has been angling for a role in the Obama admin then it should matter how he is running his personal life. But many disagree.
