Libertarian zealotry

I love this libertarian zeal, founded in the belief that you are "on to" something new and exciting. But I have a feeling that libertarians tend to suck at history.

Much of Europe was, for hundreds of years, "libertarian". The state provided nothing except security, infrastructure, any public good that would assist the economy and thereby increase the tax-take of the Medicis, or Romanovs, or de Bourbons, or whoever.

The result was yawning inequality, and bloody revolution.
