Actually, JFK's older brother was killed during WWII's Operation Aphrodite, which was a plan to use remotely controlled B-17 bombers as flying bombs to destroy hardened targets such as U-Boat pens and V-1 rocket sites. The bombers had TV cameras to relay ground imagery and a picture of the cockpit controls. It wasn't a very successful operation -- we had to wait another 50 years or so for the advent of truly successful ground-attack UAV technology.
