kgswiger:Why are Dawgy's principles "alleged" any more so than yours are? I've never seen him waffle, and I've never noticed him being a hypocrite. I disagree with him just about 100% of the time, but that doesn't blind me to his virtues.
My principles don't involve wanting to kill most of humanity but never actually doing it. That they celebrate those who do commit murder tells us how genuine these principles of theirs are. Whatever incidental virtues they may possess, they lack courage, and I'm thankful for it.
But in the case of Dobson, he's put himself in this flip-flop position, he's made a hypocrite of himself. In contrast, I'm sufficiently unprincipled re: Obama that I haven't violated any rules I care about. For me the political calculation is easy, and it's out in the open -- I make no bones about Obama not being my first choice. He and I do not see eye to eye on everything. Having McCain for my alternative is what makes it such an easy choice.
It should be that easy for the likes of Dobson and DD, too. They make it harder for themselves. And I enjoy it! They can wring their hands, torture themselves with doubt, consider a third-party run. There is no downside for me.
