I suppose the rights and obligations would have to be litigated, but generally speaking, a person has a responsibility to mitigate damages. For example, a person with a baby in a crib at home could say, "I don't want to feed this baby anymore" but then they would have to make arrangements for the baby to be cared for by someone else. They could not simply leave the baby in the crib until it died.

Most types of abortion do include killing the baby, such as cutting it to pieces, sucking out its brains, injecting chemicals into its heart, chemically burning it to death.
