You make a valid point. Of course, in these enlighted times, one hopes we as a nation have had our consciousness sufficently raised that people are generally mindful of what they say. However, having to always second-guess yourself before you speak, even when you have only good intention, is exhausting and doesn't bode well for unguarded and open conversation between friends/acquaintances/associat­es. Sad, really.
