Re: Just for the record...

Hi MaryAnn,

Chalk the missing "Oscar" up to the strange circumstance of the title not being copied and pasted when I copied the whole poem. This forum's format doesn't allow for quick transitions between the column's front page and the text entry box, and unfortunately neither does my short-term memory, so if "Oscar" wasn't in the text I had to work with in the text box, then it wouldn't be computed in my reckoning.

And Foobs and I don't die so easily, nor do we change our minds when we know we are right. We didn't construct the human mind to work the way it does; someone else did, and therefore human language (and music, literature, forms of government, and on and on) has "architecture". Said word happens to be a specific term used in classical musical composition, for example. In poetry the "architecture" takes in grammar, scansion, syntax and (sometimes) rhyme, among other things. Much of what is wrong with the Tuesday Poetry is poorly designed and/or executed architecture, plain and simple.

So get used to it, MaryAnn. I'm going to keep on pointing out self-evident truths no matter how intimitated some people are by them, nor how intimidating they try to be in response to them. Your defense of the often-indefensible can be amusing, but not when it reaches this level of vitriol.
