eBay Killed the Auction Business
by artzncrafts

It may be true that eBay's auction business is waning. It is not because consumers lost interest. eBay chose some years ago to emulate Amazon.com rather than innovate: stick to and exploit its core business. It introduced fixed priced listings and eBay stores. It tweaked its "finding" methods so much that even hard core eBayers like me prefer Amazon where I can find and purchase everything more easily and with greater confidence. Even if I pay a higher price. And far from reducing selling fees, the average take rate on the wares I offer as an eBay seller has soared from 3 to 15% in 5 years. I can go on and on and on and on, but I'm busy making money hand over fist on my fee-free website.
