Actually, purists who eat 'em without all that crap on 'em or in 'em do occasionally dunk.

Remember - a true bagel is boiled dough - so dunkin' em just softens em up a little - for old folks whose teeth aren't what they used to be.

Ever see someone drink tea with a cube of sugar held between his or her teeth?

My Dad told me his Dad used to do that - makes the sugar last longer.
