Re: Fray Poll for Cons and Thinking Libs

"People may not be able to "walk the walk" for many reasons. Not everyone who supported the war was able to serve (for one reason or another)."

Agree. Back then several of my friends were 1Y or 4F. Our own Goofie had a bad knee, another of our friends has a medical condition, and I respect that.

"Some may have been "chickenhawks"........others had legitimate reasons."

I've got good aim on this, in the real world and here. Dick Cheney had better things to do, Little George disagreed with how the war was run and didn't consider a rice paddy to be an option, Phil Gramm thought service would interfere with his career, as did Tom Selleck, Rush had a zit on his butt, O'Reilley had a football scholarship, Jack Kemp, a professional football quarterback, was 1Y, and so on. Most slackers I know were 2S warriors, the younger ones having "better things to do," like Obama.

Chickenhawk is a useful term, just as draftdodger is for St. Bill, and I will continue using them. You'll note that I don't use the term on Pogue, FunkyMunky, Stan, Mike, or Pinkie. Wonder why?
