Even little children sometimes let go of their teddy bear while they're asleep. It doesn't mean they secretly hate the bear's guts.

The LW is immature and selfish. It's hard to believe this is the first boyfriend who wouldn't hold her all night--unless it is her first (or maybe second) boyfriend ever. And, it sounds as if she'd be perfectly fine if he held her all night even if it meant him not sleeping at all. What a wonderful person.
