When did we become so serious?
by Muddydog

At what point did we cross over the line? When did we stop understanding satire? Its like our entire country is waiting to be offended by something. Then in our righteous anger we can climb on to our collective cross and nail ourselves to it, all the time crying out how wronged we are by something someone wrote or said. We're experiencing nation-wide, teen martyrdom.

I hate to say it, but this seems like the conservatives were right when they railed against 1980s and 1990s PC language crusades. No one can seem to write or say anything significant any more without some group getting into a snit over it. People are simply waiting to be offended.

We all need to grow a thicker skin, and learn to laugh at ourselves a bit more.
