E.J., I'm a racist
by ecox84

I have actually already posted (<link>) about E.J.'s comments, but upon reading them again, I just couldn't contain myself.

One thing I cannot stand about our culture is this notion that the label "racist" means that you enjoy lynching people in your spare time. Everyone everywhere who ever walked the Earth is a big, fat racist, and that's OK as long as people realize it and work to resist such easy thinking.

I would hope that E.J. is not trying to say that we cannot ever make jokes about race regardless of context or intent because I find that thinking far more racist than this cartoon.

I could drop some Derrida or Foucault right now, but instead I turn to Cartman of South Park. Cartman is a massive dick to everyone. No one escapes his rudeness. He makes fun of everyone equally whether it be for religion, race, social status or physical ability. There's a true equality in that that dim, liberal thinkers never understand.
