Well, hellzapoppin, what do you really find so funny about this cover? Like so many others before me have said: true satire has a kernal of truth in it. This is just a cartoon of vile rumors floating around on the internet and assumptions about the Obamas made by many right ringers and even some reporters.

Readers of the NYorker may get it but we have an awful lot of people who don't look beyond the surface. For that group (and believe me I listen to them every morning between 7:00 and 10:00 a.m. on C-Span), this cover just reinforces what the pundits suggest about 13% of people already believe: that the Obamas are radicals, etc. Personally, I don't see anything funny about that.
