Corn and Ethanol
by cATpERSON
Unfortanently it does not seem like there is anything we can do about the rising of food prices. Unless the gas prices decline sometime soon which probably won't happen. As far as the rising costs of corn due to the use of ethanol, I believe there is an easy solution. The prices of corn are soaring because of lower supply than usual. Couldn't you just encourage people, especially those who live in rural areas to start growing and distributing corn. Buyers would probably pay these people fairly well, especially for more rare produce. Because of recent developments many farms that would grow items like corn had to close down. Now, because of the slower housing market it would be the perfect time to start growing plants like corn; while we still have the extra space to do so.
